Hi blog! The camera shots quiz was assigned to test our knowledge on some of the different shots and angles used in filmmaking. We were asked to take exactly 15 photos utilizing a variety of different shots, and use those photos to tell a short story based on an inanimate object. We were also expected to put them into a presentation and label as well as explain the use of each shot.
Me and my partner's approach to this assignment was to tell as story based on a cell phone during a school day when it isn't being used. We got this idea because our state mandated that no phones are used during school hours, and we took inspiration from that because it was a unique story that we thought was interesting to students. We utilized shots and angles to express the phone's personified emotions, which was a bit difficult because it was a still image. However, we decided to use emojis on the phone screen to portray the feelings, as it was a visual way of highlighting emotions. The shots put the viewer in the shoes of the phone, since that's what the story was based on. When we successfully finished shooting the pictures, we uploaded them to Canva for easy access, and gave short descriptions as the assignment asked.
Overall, I think that we could have added more editing to the pictures in order to make it more immersive, but due to not having much time, we couldn't do so. However, I do think that we did very well with such a vague topic and only having a small amount of time to create something with multiple layers to it. It really made me realize all the thought that goes into every single shot in film.
